Packing What?

Gravel Bikepacking:
The Light Pack List.

This packing list for light bikepacking was created as a starting point for the “Triangle of Gravel,” a diverse alpine-to-Mediterranean gravel route through four valleys in southern Graubünden and the neighboring Valtellina. The route features a high proportion of gravel and flowing single trails – we call it alpine gravel bikepacking – with accommodations and meals in unique lodgings.

*This list can also serve as a basis for your next gravel adventure.

We recommend carrying nothing on your back or only minimal items, such as a hip bag.

Compact, lightweight, agile

Bags & (Racks)

We recommend keeping your luggage as minimal and lightweight as possible. Avoid overpacking your bags.

1. “Frame Bag” or “Half Frame Bag”
2. “Handlebar Bag”
3. “Seat Bag”
4. Optional: “Top Tube Bag”
5. Optional: “Hip Bag”

Alternatively, you can skip the handlebar bag and opt for an extended, stable bikepacking rack (rear bike rack). However, avoid loading it with heavy side luggage.

During our 4-day tour, we stay in unique accommodations, so there’s no need to bring a sleeping bag, tent, cooking utensils, or towels. We recommend carrying nothing or only minimal items on your back. A “Hip Bag” is practical. If you use a backpack, make sure it’s compact and lightly packed.

You can find a good overview and more details about the bags here.
